Thank you Lars. It was an extraordinary experience facing that elephant charge! They were trumpeting and flapping their ears and it was both a scary and an exhilerating experience!!

Quel bel animal que l'éléphant!
Très belles images, mention spéciale pour la dernière.

Chilla said at 7:25 a.m. on Oct 29, 2009:
Muito obrigada Neusinha. Éramos cerca de 50-100 metros dos elefantes. Fizemos chegar muito perto de alguns, mas manteve uma certa distância dos grupos maiores. Eu estava usando uma lente de 400mm

Parabéns Celia por mais um TOD!!!
Chilla said at 11:07 a.m. on Oct 29, 2009:
Jona, thank you. The elephant were unhappy because there were lion around and turned towards our jeep. They have poor eyesight but are aware of something 'running away' and started chasing the jeep. The guide stopped at a safe distance to allow for some quick shots before moving off again. After the second charge the elephant turned away and gave up. I was just lucky to have the opportunity to get some fairly decent shots using a 100-400mm lens!

Celia, their elephants are ODD! This tabblo is a tribute to this great animal that is so far from people and that is very successful in circuses and zoos. Deserved TOD.

Ira, thank you so much.
Rhonda, thank you. Botswana has a zero tolerance to poaching and anyone caught poaching faces very severe punishment. The Botswana government works hard to ensure that the wildlife is preserved. It is believed that there are up to 200,000 elephant in Botswana and it has the highest population of elephant in africa.
